2 – 3 days per week (primarily based at our Richmond Studio, but flexibility
to work at our Geelong Studio as required would increase your hours!)

Firstly about our business…

artist photographer was established in 1983 and is an industry leader in family and child portraits with 100 year old studios in both Geelong and Richmond.

Currently we have 3 Photographers and 7 support staff across the 2 studios. We’re continuing to grow and we’re looking for you to help us with giving our clients a wonderful photography experience in our Richmond studios so we can continue to prosper. We are a young team that love doing what we do.

Secondly, about this position…

You’ll be ‘the face’ of our business – that’s why we’re looking for someone that connects readily and warmly with our clients as you will primarily deal with them as our Front of House. You see, some people are not comfortable coming in to be photographed and the experience they have when they first call us and when they arrive will set the tone for how they enjoy their whole relationship with us.

The type of portraits we create are like the ones you see on this page and throughout our main website at, they are 1) Individuals, 2) Families, 3) Children, 4) Babies and 5) Couples.

Naturally, you will also have excellent phone manner and computer skills using Microsoft Windows and/or Apple Mac. You will be working at our Richmond studio for the most part (the willingness to help out at our Geelong studio from time to time would be an advantage).

You’ll even have your own car park provided just a few metres from where you’ll be working – in both Richmond and Geelong – so no parking hassles!

Whilst this role is a Guest Services/Admin Assistant role, the position is definitely much more than that!

At artist photographer, we are keen to give you as much variety in your role as you are happy to take on.

Some of the things you will be responsible for are:

  • Client Care
  • Receiving and making calls
  • Creating and confirming client appointments
  • Seating and Greeting Clients & ensuring our studio is looking perfect for our clients’ visit
  • Presenting Clients with their finished artworks (this is the best part!)
  • Assisting with all elements of Marketing.

Our portraits are of the finest quality, and they are priced at the ‘premium’ end of the market, so you’ll need to look the part.

Our clients are discerning and expect the best, and we are used to exceeding their expectations. Everything is thought of and provided for you, you just have to turn up early (a bit earlier than your start time) to be sure our studio is looking great!

You’ll also be responsible for ensuring that our clients are delighted not only with their portraits, but also their time with us along the way. This is a role that requires you to interact with our clients on a daily basis – so you’ll be a ‘warm’ person and need to be great at creating relationships with people.

This position is a Casual role (8 – 16 hours or more per week) and Award Wages apply. You will be working primarily at our Richmond Studio and have an on site car park provided for you. You may have the opportuunity to work on occasion at our Geelong Studio (where your car park will also be provided), so your flexibility is a great asset for this role.

  • Excellent Listening Skills
  • Sensitive to people’s needs
  • Leadership – we are after someone that sets themselves high standards and achieves them. This allows them to set an example to the rest of the team.
  • Very Good to Excellent Computer Skills –  Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Able to follow Clearly Written Procedures, but also creatively work ‘outside the box’ when needed.

It’s also essential that you have excellent problem solving skills and can prioritise working processes, The great thing is that we have excellent training and procedures already in place to make it easy for you to succeed!
